operations

We have an exceptional asset base, yielding many of the top 20 highest producing natural gas wells in Canada. With a geological system that delivers resource quickly, a low-risk model and access to markets with long-term export agreements, we are confidently positioned for continued success.

JUPITER’S DEVELOPMENT + OPERATIONS

Location + Resource

Our properties are all located in the core of the Alberta Deep Basin. The region has proven geology and multiple target formations within the Cretaceous interval, including the Falher F, Wilrich, Falher C, Dunvegan and Cardium formations.

Infrastructure + Operations

The area has a favourable operating environment and access to established infrastructure. Located just north of Grande Cache, Alberta, our operating areas include Kakwa, Resthaven, Red Rock and Wolf Creek. We sell our products into the North American system primarily through third party midstream facilities.

Maximized Collaboration

We look after each other. We are committed to operating safely, minimizing our environmental footprint, engaging with communities and treating all our stakeholders with respect and dignity.

Cutting Edge Technology

Risked innovation is at the forefront of our approach. Combining detailed petrophysical and geological modelling with a sophisticated digitalized database and IT infrastructure, our technical teams work closely with our vendors to drill some of the deepest and longest reach horizontal wells in the industry.

Where we operate

Overview

All of our properties are located in the core of the Alberta Deep Basin where we target stacked reservoirs within the Cretaceous interval. We hold a large contiguous land position (approximately 350,000 net acres) with over 6 trillion cubic feet equivalent (Tcfe) of recoverable resource identified in proven horizontal target formations. Including 2.4 Tcfe of total proved plus probable reserves our diversified high-quality inventory of 735 future locations provides decades of low risk drilling opportunity.

Dig Deep

deep basin key strengths

  • Over-Pressured Reservoirs
  • Depositional Setting
  • Navigating with 3D Seismic
  • Liquid Rich Sweet Gas
Depositional Setting
Jupiter's reservoirs are characterized by Cretaceous aged sediments originally shed off the emerging mountains to the west, accumulating in an expanse of high quality shoreface and fluvial depositional resulting in a thick succession of stacked reservoir targets along the western margin of Alberta. The historical combination of tectonic burial and uplift, create the ideal regional setting for reservoirs to develop enhanced natural fracture permeability that plays a critical role in developing the high deliverability nature of the reservoirs.
Over-Pressured Reservoirs
The reservoirs were historically charged with migrating hydrocarbons at a significantly greater depth than we find them today. That pressure was sealed in place before tectonic driven uplift and glacier retreat left them closer to the surface. The highly over pressured nature of the reservoirs provides increased gas storage capacity (OGIP) and superior well deliverability, which is then amplified by our stimulation techniques.
Liquid Rich Sweet Gas
Jupiter's land position is within the Deep Basin of Alberta, which is a unique petroleum system within the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin and is defined by the paucity of mobile water within the reservoirs. The burial history and the nature of the source rocks in the Deep Basin generated liquids rich, sweet natural gas to light oil providing a blend of hydrocarbon targets which diversifies our product streams.
Safety trumps everything else — no exceptions. Jupiter is committed to conducting its operations in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
