Jupiter Resources Inc. is a Calgary-based independent exploration and production company with an operations office in Grande Cache, Alberta. Jupiter Resources Inc. is seeking a Manager, Land to lead the company’s Mineral Land Department. The successful candidate will have 20 years or more of experience and will work in a collaborative team environment to provide analytical support and participate in value-oriented decision making processes with the other disciplines. The Manager, Land role is to lead the mineral land department, maintain and enhance the mineral land base, work with the land administrators and ensure there is alignment with the overall business objectives of the company. The Manager, Land is expected to work cross functionally within the Development Team, the Joint Venture Team, the Surface Land team and the Finance Team, actively communicating the Mineral Land team’s objectives and processes.
The primary accountabilities of the Manger Land role are to include:
Coordinates all legal matters, partner agreements and binding documents involving mineral tenure
Responsible for the leadership, guidance and support of the Mineral Land Administration and Mineral Contracts staff
Coordinates and leads expiry management planning with Mineral Land Analyst and Technical teams
Leads the development of procedures and priorities of the Land Department within the corporate goals
Leads internal analysis of business development opportunities
Provide Mineral Land analysis for BD opportunities
Responsible for maintaining partner relationships for the company
Advises senior management on land department opportunities and issues
Responsible in ensuring appropriate tenure administration, legal documentation, and ensure contracts are maintained.
Has a thorough understanding of CAPL Operating Procedures, Land Alberta regulations and negotiations.
Works closely with technical teams to develop area land strategy in support of inventory development
Negotiates, drafts and interprets all forms of land agreements.
Develops posting and bidding strategies for land sales.
Involved in Provincial Caribou Range Planning
Ensures accurate corporate acreage reporting
Leads the cross-functional discussion of options and priorities for the monetization of expiring acreage.
Provide corporate input on competitor analysis and area activity
Above all, the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate very strong contracts and mineral related knowledge, strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Preference will be given to those candidates that possess strong communication and management skills, excels in a team based environment, detailed oriented approach to contracts assessment and clear history of land agreement negotiation success. The successful candidate will also be simultaneously comfortable with both leading and playing a supporting role in either A&D or M&A activity.
In addition to the specific experience required, the candidate must also possess the following broader skills and capabilities:
Work in a dominantly digital workflow and data management system, while open to and constantly seeking efficiencies in systems and processes within the mineral land team and the organization.
Ability to delegate work and projects to team members.
Is very functional in LandRite and/or CS Explorer, Accumap and/or GeoScout
Lead and be responsible for the administration of the Mineral Land team
